for twenty-five years claudia bosse has been shaping a theatre that radically questions its own boundaries. whether she literally removes the appropriate theatrical ground from political material (jelinek, müller, brecht, aeschylus, racine, shakespeare) or opens up a space of non-understanding for the audience in hybrid material constellations, claudia bosse and the theatrecombinat act where theatre is at disposal: in a field between language, space, chorus and body, choreography, installation, performance and ritual.

with an introductory essay by fanti baum and kathrin tiedemann, an interview by felicitas thun-hohenstein with claudia bosse, texts by the artist, a catalogue raisonné and numerous colour illustrations.

the series postdramatic theatre in portraits is dedicated to the development of a new theatre aesthetic since the 1990s. the history of actors of postdramatic theatre in the german-speaking world is told for the first time in the form of monographs. the editors of the series are florian malzacher, aenne quiñones and kathrin tiedemann.
