bambiland's day

2481 years after the staging of the first preserved tragedy (472 BC). a time after tragedies, a time after tragedy. survivors in a time machine navigate through formations of states, times of crisis, zones of wars. the present as battlefield of history. wars have left
their times and cross the bodies of their survivors.

the tragedy of tragedies as multi hybrid fiction: «the persians» by aischylus, «coriolanus» by shakespeare, «phèdre» by racine and «bambiland» by jelinek among other texts. each tragedy seen as space of history and experience, as an expedition into the conflict zones of european culture. bodies troubled by passion and discipline, by class conflicts and the struggle for survival. bodies as imperialistic war machines, perishing in the ideological jungles of media rhetoric.

theatrical reality arises solely from fragments of set pieces out of 5 tragic texts, entering loosely into constellations linked by linguistic composition, thus confronting themselves
with themselves, without creating continuing narration.

an associative space after the catastrophes depicted by the texts. splinters of texts are executed by tragic warriors marked by signs from all ages, where none is believable. the fragments must render themselves credible, unfold plots, spread conflicts and confront themselves in various ways.

for example: a dance of two messengers from «phèdre» and «the persians». a double-creature, each one proclaiming a history of destruction - of a single body (hippolyt’s body, torn by horses) or a people (the persians, killed in masses by the greeks).

a journey to the land of tragic warriors, fighting in the realms of language, crossing history and confronting heroes. political and aesthetic rhetorics, inscribing themselves into hybrid bodies, instantly being deleted by the tragedy-machinery of the present.

spectators on mobile units become manipulated attendants of postterrestrial scenarios. they are being used, displaced, rejected, permanently changing their role: ground staff of the terrestrials before they were separated from the gods is turned into a bunch of airy passengers of a catastrophic fleet, crashing. orchestrated tenants of the turning wheel of history.

again and again.
